Here are some of my best tips (many learned the hard way) on how to plan for an emergency. Whilst you can never perfectly plan for some of the things life throws at you, it’s important to set your business up in a way that makes room for real life. When you’re the owner of a small business, it can quite literally feel like the world is falling apart when something goes wrong. Whether it’s getting sick, house problems, mental health issues, or struggling with a personal tragedy, emergencies can come in all shapes + sizes. Though this emergency may be smaller in the grand scheme of life, I can’t help but think about all the very big + real life emergencies that so many have gone through, especially in the last couple of years. He’s doing much better now (so thankful) but it has really had me thinking a lot about emergencies + how to plan for them in my business. The recovery has been rough + quite scary at times. Last week, my dad was riding his bicycle to work (yes, SO very Dutch of him! 🤪) + he had a REALLY nasty fall. This is one of those ‘not fun but oh so necessary’ conversations: how to keep your business afloat when *life* happens.
